How does this production embrace sustainability?: | In the kitchen piece, everyone that appears on camera really works in the restaurant that is featured. I felt it was important to make the kitchen environment feel authentic - the last thing I wanted was for it to feel like actors pretending to do something that takes years of training and practice. A restaurant's kitchen has an energy that is palpable and incredibly difficult to recreate, so I asked the head chef and his team to show me what they do to prep for a busy day and we simply captured it (with, of course, some specific requests). Everyone in the kitchen was welcoming and excited to show off their skills. We were also enthusiastic about showing what a commercial kitchen truly looks like in terms of diversity - in ethnicity, gender, and age. Kitchens are like families in which everyone has their own unique personality and background, but they come together in the name of teamwork and unity. We wanted to emphasize that. Meta was excited and enthusiastic about our approach and agreed that authenticity was key! |
