Despite his relentless search, Iole never reappears, leading Liscari to immortalize her memory by crafting a salt pendant from the pyramid he constructs. The story delves into the theme of an impossible love between a mortal and an immortal, echoing the sentiments of the classical philosopher Artemidoro. Our inspiration for this narrative draws from "De Salinis Cerviensibus," penned by Pietro Antonio Zanoni (1723 - 1786) in 1786, situating the events of Liscari and Iole within the salt flats of Cervia. |
