How does this production embrace sustainability?: | The music video stems from a truly collaborative effort, rooted in a passion to amplify emergent music culture by creating global pathways that would simply not be viable under a conventional for-profit motive. PUSH and our post-production partners in Singapore, Heckler, brought Jeshi - a young, up-and-coming British artist receiving acclaim for the social commentary he addresses through his music, on subjects spanning austerity and knife crime - to Tokyo for a one-off show and also to use the opportunity to create a standout music video for his track "Inside Out". Through this partnership, we were able to introduce a Japanese audience to a lesser-known side of UK music culture, as well as create a unique music video for Jeshi, situating him and his craft in a context far away from his London hometown, showcasing his artistry in a completely new light to delight existing fans and new ones alike. |
Synopsis: | The music video is rooted in a thematic nod to Jeshi's own "pivot away from retaliatory violence" - something he referenced as a crucial moment in his life and artistic career - explored via a homage to Takeshi Kitano's off-kilter 1993 gangster flick "Sonatine". Pairing gritty urban dynamism with suburban ennui, the video takes the unique opportunity to showcase the dichotomous nature of city life that exists in parallel in both Tokyo and London. |
